From the European Coal and Steel Community to the modern European Union – we explored the history of European integration during our Erasmus+ mobility in Croatia. On the second day of our educational mobility, organized by the Enabler Foundation, we dedicated time to understanding the origins of the European community.

During the presentation "Where did the Union come from?", we traveled back to the post-war era, analyzing the need for peaceful cooperation between nations. We recalled key milestones: from the signing of the Treaty establishing the European Coal and Steel Community in 1951, through the Treaties of Rome in 1957, to the Maastricht Treaty in 1992, which laid the foundations for the modern Union.

We also discussed national perspectives, reflecting on Poland's accession to the EU in 2004 and Croatia's entry in 2013. For our participants, it was an opportunity to compare the experiences of both countries and reflect on how integration has impacted their daily lives.

The sessions were interactive, involving timeline exercises that connected historical facts with personal memories. Thanks to the Erasmus+ program, we can participate in international workshops, develop new skills, and gain experiences that we will share upon our return. We aim for European education to be an opportunity for our participants to better understand the world we live in.
