Gdynia typography – a series of intergenerational workshops on the city’s typographic imagery

Completed

Project description

A project engaging seniors from the local community together with children and young people. Its aim is to build lasting intergenerational relationships based on mutual respect through an exchange of experiences between the groups.

Project goal

The main goal of the project is to engage 20 residents of Gdynia in late adulthood (55+) and their grandchildren in regular, active participation in cultural life across generational divides.

The project’s theme fits the competition’s objectives: the planned workshop series actively engages and integrates Senior Club members in sharing their memories of the city’s history with the younger generation (building a sense of belonging and raising historical awareness).

Target group

The project will recruit 20 seniors – 10 women and 10 men (open recruitment aimed at people aged 55+ living in Gdynia), including at least 5 people with a disability certificate (given priority in recruitment). A condition of participation is a declaration to attend the classes with a child aged 7–12 (a grandchild or another close person).

Forms of support

The project includes 15 intergenerational typography-and-history workshops themed around Gdynia’s local cultural heritage.
