Senior AI Explorer – an international learning mobility for seniors.

Completed

Project description

According to experts, disinformation is the greatest global threat of 2024. Artificial-intelligence tools can be used to create so-called deepfakes capable of genuinely influencing large groups – above all older people, who are vulnerable to disinformation due to lower levels of digital skills and knowledge about AI. The partners are running this project to prepare 20 learners in late adulthood for the digital transformation through solid education, and to increase their sense of safety online.

Project goal

  1. Preparing 20 of the Foundation’s learners in late adulthood for the digital transformation by providing solid education in artificial intelligence and its practical applications.
  2. Increasing the sense of digital safety of 20 of the Foundation’s learners in late adulthood by combating disinformation and fake news, and by protecting sensitive data when working with AI.
  3. Building the professional experience of the Foundation’s staff (6 trainers) in organising non-formal education activities for people in late adulthood on the practical use of AI.
  4. Raising the Foundation’s profile in the local community, attracting new learners and partners, and developing services in the non-formal education sector.

Target group

Project support will go to 20 seniors, who will take part in an 8-day transnational mobility. Priority in recruitment will be given to people particularly at risk of social exclusion – when assessing applications, the beneficiary will award bonus points as follows:

  • 5 pts – a person with a disability certificate,
  • 2 pts – a person facing a geographical barrier, i.e. living in an area with limited access to educational services (a rural municipality),
  • 2 pts – a person facing an economic barrier, i.e. whose income does not exceed 150% of the income criterion under the Social Assistance Act,
  • 1 pt – a person running a single-person household.

The job shadowing will involve 6 trainers from the adult non-formal education sector who regularly run classes on behalf of Fundacja Enabler. The final selection of participants will be made by the Foundation’s Board.

Forms of support

The project includes 2 main activities:

1. An 8-day transnational mobility hosted by the Spanish training company Crea360 SL.

The mobility programme will include practical AI classes (each day the seniors will work in workshop mode, spending 2 hours solving worksheets using AI-based tools) and daily 2-hour workshops on combating digital disinformation, using practical simulations. Beyond the 4 daily hours of AI and cybersecurity classes, each day:

  • morning warm-ups will be run as group exercises,
  • the partner’s trainers will hold Spanish language workshops,
  • a city game using digital tools will be played,
  • at least 3 meetings with Spanish seniors and joint cooking workshops will be organised,
  • a daily evaluation will take place.

2. An 8-day job shadowing hosted by the Spanish training company Crea360 SL.

The mobility will follow a 1:1 formula – the transnational partner will assign 6 employees to act as mentors for the sending organisation’s staff, increasing the educational effectiveness of the visit. The staff mobility programme responds to the sending organisation’s current needs: 6 employees will observe courses and workshops run by the transnational partner (at least 6 hours a day) in the areas of:

  • the practical use of AI for older people,
  • combating disinformation for seniors.
